Fought (The play), 2012

Fought (The play) is a play (that evolved into a song) scripted from a re-enactment of a boxing match. It looks at the elements of the fight, using those parts to construct a re-imagined live event. In the performance, two singers take the roles of sports commentators. They provide sung commentary as if they are witnessing the fight and describing it, blow by blow, to the audience. By removing the visceral action of the fighters and describing it in words alone, it attempts to provide a platform for exploring tangential ideas, discursive possibilities, and associated theories of boxing.
